Welcome to What's Quacking! A meet-and-greet series with our awesome humans. Get to know the people at ezyVet, what makes them tick, their role and life outside of ezyVet.
Meet Steven Maldonado, Intermediate Conversion Engineer, UK.
How does your day to day work help ezyVet customers?
In the conversion space we are constantly looking to ensure that the customer's data is correct. If anything looks out of place, then we work with the customers to make sure we correct the data to meet their needs. At the end of the day, it's all about keeping the customers happy.
Was there a memorable moment with a customer?
My first go live was one to remember where I was having some issues grabbing their data. I had to communicate with the customer in order to successfully grab their data as there were some changes done on their side. It really goes to show how important communication is especially prior to go lives.
What big projects are you working on at ezyVet?
The great thing about the conversion space is that you're not just working on one single project, you have the opportunity work on multiple projects at the same time. This role has certainly improved my management and multi-tasking skills to say the least.
How would you describe your day job to a 3-year-old?
I do computer wizardry to make sure new websites work well.
In 3 years, what do you hope to have achieved at ezyVet?
I hope to see myself playing a role in assisting the rapid expansion of ezyVet, particularly in the UK region.
What motivates you?
I've always liked a challenge and being the best I possibly can at what I do, whether it be playing sports, video games or work.
How did you get to where you are today?
Through many years of sweat and tears of having to learn how computers work. I guess the best way I've achieved this was learning by doing what I wanted to learn.
If you could do any other job for one day, what would it be?
A foodie blogger freely travelling the world, living off taste testings and getting fat.
If you could pick anyone, who would you pick as your mentor?
Elon Musk. Despite his controversial statements, I find it quite fascinating how he's played a big role in making companies in challenging industries a success.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I pick up on random hobbies from time to time, but right now I'm really into bouldering, football and boxing. I'm waiting for pandemic to settle down to be able to get into them again.
Do you have any pets and what are they like?
I don't own a pet, but I do occasionally dog sit a small little sausage dog that can easily be described as a diva. She always gets what she wants with the effective use of her puppy eyes.
What is your favorite quote?
“Knowing is not enough. We must apply. Willing is not enough. We must do.” Bruce Lee
Do you have any advice for people thinking of applying to work for the company?
If you enjoy challenges and working in a collaborative environment, then this is the place for you.
